Meet The Therapist

Rachel Walker, MOT, OTR/L, CTRI, CEIM

S2C PIT

Clinical Background

Rachel Walker has been practicing occupational therapy since 2018. She began her career as an occupational therapy assistant after earning her associate degree and continued gaining hands-on clinical experience while completing her master’s degree in occupational therapy to become a registered and licensed occupational therapist (OTR/L). Rachel has a deep appreciation for traditional occupational therapy and continues to practice with a local pediatric therapy provider in Mount Pleasant, North Carolina.

Intro to S2C

Throughout her career, Rachel developed a particular passion for supporting individuals whose motor differences impact their ability to communicate reliably. Her introduction to Spell to Communicate (S2C) further shaped this passion and ultimately led to the creation of Walker Therapy Services. With a focus on the connection between purposeful motor control and communication, Rachel supports nonspeaking and unreliably speaking individuals in developing the intentional motor skills needed to access spelling as a reliable means of communication.

Clinical Approach

At the foundation of Rachel’s approach is a presumption of competence and the belief that a person’s ability to demonstrate what they know should never determine what we assume they understand. Through Walker Therapy Services, she strives to provide individualized, respectful support that develops purposeful movement, promotes autonomy, and creates greater access to meaningful communication and connection.
