Frequently Asked Questions
Who can I see for services?
Walker Therapy Services supports children and adults who are nonspeaking, minimally speaking, or unreliably speaking, regardless of diagnosis. While spelling based communication approaches are often associated with autism, communication and motor differences can occur across many diagnoses and individuals do not need an autism diagnosis to receive services.
Services are individualized to each person, with a focus on presuming competence, developing purposeful motor skills, and creating greater access to reliable communication, autonomy, and meaningful participation in everyday life.
Is it OT or is it spelling (S2C)?
At Walker Therapy Services, it’s both! Occupational therapy principles and specialized training in Spell to Communicate (S2C) come together to build purposeful motor control, regulation, and accurate letterboard access—creating greater opportunities for meaningful communication, autonomy, and connection while always presuming competence.

What ages do you work with?
Walker Therapy Services welcomes children, teens, and adults, with services generally best suited for individuals ages 4 and older. Purposeful motor development and access to meaningful communication are not limited by age. Whether an individual is just beginning to explore a letterboard or is continuing to build greater motor accuracy, fluency, and independence, support is individualized to meet them where they are. At every age and stage, we presume competence, honor each person’s unique abilities, and work toward greater autonomy, connection, and meaningful communication.
What is the frequency and cost of services?
Because services are individualized to each client’s needs and goals, cost and recommended frequency of sessions are discussed upon inquiry. Please reach out to learn more about current rates, availability, and what service frequency may be the best fit for you or your loved one. Services through Walker Therapy Services are private pay, and we do not bill or accept insurance directly. Upon request, a superbill can be provided for services rendered, which families may submit to their insurance company for potential out of network occupational therapy reimbursement, depending on their individual plan. Walker Therapy Services is also an ESA+ provider and can accept eligible ESA+ funds through the ClassWallet platform.
Where are you located?
Walker Therapy Services is currently offering home and community based sessions, allowing services to take place in a familiar and comfortable environment. As the practice continues to grow, plans are underway to establish a dedicated clinic space in early to mid-2027, creating a welcoming home for purposeful motor development and meaningful communication.
